Back to Black

It’s been a whole year since I dabbled in grey hair (the whole transformation documented here) with Redken, and while I thoroughly I enjoyed the experience, it was time to go back to my roots – literally (but not really). I have medium brown hair naturally, but black is what I consider ‘me’. Since I went safe there, I knew I wanted to do a little something to switch things up in the style department. Short hair is great in many ways, but I’ve been super into the whole middle parted, uber-long look for as long as I can remember. I had it back in high school, but it was in a bun 9 times out of 10 (because I’m lazy and hate washing my hair) and never got to fully enjoy it. So I was super pumped when the awesome people at Stush Extensions hooked me up with their 22’ silk-baked clip-ins so I could live out my Cher/Morticia fantasies, sans upkeep.

On transition day, I brought them to Marie-Eve to colour match them with Redken’s Shades EQ (colour that acts like a treatment) and they blended right into my hair. Going from light to dark can leave hair looking dull and blah, but this amazing formula has fillers in it for maximum shine and minimal fading. p.s. You can’t even tell I’m mid-process of growing out my bangs, can you? My secret is: I slick them into my extensions with a little bit of Redken Guts. Oh, and some Forceful 23 + root teasing before hand ensures those aren’t goin’ noooowhere.
