I’ve been to Jamaica 3 times now – one time staying in Montego Bay, and the last two times in Negril. Normally I’m pretty opposed to repeating destinations, but there’s something about this magical little town that keeps me coming back. After having such an amazing time last year, I knew I had to figure out a way to return this year. So I convinced Betsy that we should shoot a new Ūnika campaign there and do a hybrid work/play retreat, then reached out to my friends at booking.com to see if we could collaborate on something together. They were game, and offered me a chance to browse their platform and book a stay through them. I was a little worried about not finding a place since we were booking pretty late in the game, but they had tons of great options.
**They’ve graciously offered my followers a promo code: www.booking.com/s/b8123c4a, which is valid for $40 off any travel booked through them until May 30th 2019!
After checking out all the options, we decided on The Spa Boutique Retreat Hotel. I loved how quiet and serene this place was – it’s only 18 rooms, surrounded by beautiful lush gardens. A really great place to zen out, and they have a beautiful spa complete with outdoor showers facing the ocean. It’s also right on the cliffs, so you’re literally steps away from coral reefs – there’s literally ladders going into the water (check out the photos below). I’m a Pisces…snorkeling is my absolute fav, so this was a huge highlight for me. There are also two super sweet resident dogs on the property that loved to swim with us : )
It seems like I fall more in love with Jamaica every time I visit – there’s this raw, genuine component to it. The aura of love and zest for life is undeniable here. Here are some tried and true spots that I highly recommend visiting:
Martha Brae River You’ve probably seen people post photos on the rafts here on IG – it’s one of those moderately touristy spots, BUT it’s still super chill and a really nice experience.
Just Natural This spot is an absolute GEM. I’d rank this as one of my top 5 places to eat in the entire world, no joke. It’s a little family owned place on West End Road surrounded by beautiful gardens, and every table is different and equally charming. The food is all fresh seafood and/or traditional Rastafari vegan served by a truly magical lady named Theresa. No joke, hummingbirds literally fly up to her and eat out of her hands (and if you believe in this type of thing, the address is 11111). They have amazing fresh juices and smoothies, but pretty much everything I’ve had there is delicious – from the divine crab omelets, to the rasta pasta, veggie burgers and pumpkin soup. Rasta Lemonade on 7 Mile beach also has freshly made juices and a next level vegan platter.
Corner Bar is a must-go if you want real, no strings attached good Jamaican food – it’s where all the locals eat and is quite the hotspot.
Ivan’s Bar was recommended to us by a local guy we met, and we were really wowed by the food and how awesome the atmosphere was. Def a low-key, “if you know you know” place. They have a jerk shrimp pasta special that we went back twice for.
